How MIND creates access to neuroscience.
From weekly discussions to a flagship annual conference, every MIND initiative is designed to bring students closer to the research, the researchers, and each other.
Journal Clubs
Tri-weekly discussions exploring contemporary research in neuroscience and neurodegenerative disease.
Students learn how to critically read scientific literature and discuss emerging work in areas such as disease pathology, therapeutic approaches, and the psycho-philosophical implications of neurodegenerative disorders.
Speaker Series
Conversations with University of Toronto researchers, clinicians, graduate students, and professionals.
These events expose students to both the science and the people behind current neuroscience research.
Community Outreach
Connecting neuroscience education with the communities affected by aging and neurological disease.
MIND partners with local care homes and community organizations on patient-facing initiatives and awareness programs, and works to address the challenges faced by geriatric patients in healthcare.
Skill-Building & Career Exploration
Workshops and events help students learn about the many paths into neuroscience-related careers.
Sessions cover undergraduate research, graduate school, medicine, scientific communication, research skills, biotechnology, and interdisciplinary career pathways.
Conferences & Research Symposia
MIND organizes larger interdisciplinary events bringing together faculty, graduate researchers, students, clinicians, and professionals. An annual conference each winter semester and additional summer events combine scientific talks, lab tours, student and career panels, and networking — with opportunities to explore pathways into neuroscience.
- Scientific talks from faculty and graduate researchers
- Research discussions across disciplines
- Student panels
- Career panels with clinicians and industry professionals
- Networking with faculty, graduate students, and peers
- Opportunities to explore pathways into neuroscience
